Camera Swap!

Avoid the hassle of selling your camera-swap it! join us for our 1st Annual "Camera Swap in our back gallery/classroom space at YO. Bring $5 and your gently used cameras (all formats) to trade or buy from the actual owners. This is a fun way to meet people, like you, interested in photography that are in need of equipment and willing to pay or trade for it. This is a great opportunity to trade/buy a camera to use for class!

Free demonstrations 3p - 4

In this hour you will learn the benefits of shooting and printing in black and white.  The instructor(s) will do a demonstration, walk you through the darkroom and discuss their class(es).  If you have a manual camera and intend to try black and white, bring it in and we help answer your questions.

Free Darkroom Hours!! 4 - 8p

Come and test out our darkroom for 2 hour blocks tonight (4-6 or 6-8). We will have a sign up sheet when you arrive at YO. Only 5 people allowed in at a time. You must have prior experience to work in our darkroom (no guests please). We will supply the chemicals; you supply the negatives, paper and enthusiasm!

This beautiful photograph does not do the actual sunset justice. The colors, the breeze and the feeling of this night were awesome. Enjoy!

I was reading Shutterbug magazine tonight and saw an article about an interesting website called Surrealcolor.com. The article and the website are about making infrared photographs with your digital camera. The photographs by David Twede definitely peaked my interest in trying this style of digital photography.

Chernobyl Legacy: Photographic Essay

A fellow blogger and friend, Craig B, sent me an email asking me to check out a story on a web site that discusses the Chernobyl Legacy. The photographs and the audio create a stark and thought provoking view of the horrors endured by the children of the victim's of the Cherynobyl nuclear accident. Please read and listen to the entire story. It is unbelievable and tragic.

Welcome

Click here for a SLIDESHOW from the 1st Annual Photoblogging Geek Day

Saturday, April 23, was a fun day for me and hopefully for a few others. I was invited to join photobloggers from around the state for a day of shooting pixels in Pittsburgh.

The participants are well known in the world of photoblogging:

Craig (Our gracious host/tourguide having a bad car day): What the Hell Happened Last Night
Bill (Mr. Gadget): digiphoto.com
Kathleen (Where are the cows?):  A Walk Through Durham Township
photosuperstar (Anti-Digital): Dean M Beattie
Jeff (The rookie and stiff): JMG Artblog

Another blogger and nice guy, Matt (the narrative) from Toronto, joined us later in the day.

It was a great time and one that I hope we will repeat. Thanks everyone!
